MEA awarded
The Award for Design Excellence is the leading award for design in Norway. It's purpose is to stimulate the industry to use design as an important tool in product development and market communication. March 15 th, MEA recieved this award.
The MEA locker has been developed to meet new needs for furnishing in the contractual market and to provide safe storage of valuables. A study shows that women in particular are displeased with existing solutions, and MEA was developed especially with women’s needs in mind.
MEA also wishes to make lockers more appealing and personal.
The jury’s verdict:
The MEA locker provides a number of clear advantages for users compared with existing solutions. Plenty of space and a flexible design that is well thought through clearly distinguish this locker from other steel lockers. The locker’s exciting curved shape has given an otherwise impersonal and often boring product a clear identity. The curved design also means the door is more resistant to knocks. The characteristic ventilation holes help give the locker its own personality, while at the same time fulfilling a practical function. It is particularly pleasing to see such a product in this segment where aesthetics and design generally receive so little focus.
